Short term Survey/MRE consultant

The survey staff was initially trained and supervised by an international survey consultant, but since the beginning of 2008, the programme is run in cooperation with DCAs national partner organization ECC-MERU. The survey section is located in the DCA HMA office and the national programme manager refers to the International DCA programme manager and operations manager who are also in the daily work responsible for monitoring of the work and advising the section. Responsibilities:

  • Assess the survey methodology utilized focusing on formats, processes and monitoring tools and compliance to international and DRC standards when applicable. Accordingly adapt the Standard Operating Procedures for Survey.
  • Assess MRE materials and methodology and provide inputs for improvement, focusing on messaging. Accordingly adapt the Standard Operating procedures for MRE.
  • Provide additional training to survey and MRE staff (field staff and management staff) as required.
  • In cooperation with national survey consultants finalize post clearance impact survey formats and ensure that they are put into practice.
  • Develop simple benchmarks and indicators for qualitative reporting of post clearance impact
Required qualifications: Documented knowledge of and experience with gathering and compiling statistical material Minimum bachelor degree or equivalent French speaking Excellent written English and reporting skills Experience from Humanitarian Mine Action Programmes, especially survey and MRE components Knowledge of International Mine Action Standards

Conditions:
The position is for two months starting October. The consultant will be based in the DCA office in Kalemie (DRC) with frequent travel to the field.
