International communications and information officers
Salary: £36,192 to £40,558 per annum (including London allowance where applicable) Substantial travel, often to areas of instability Closing date for both posts: 5pm, Friday 18 July 2008 Post 1 : Democratic Republic of Congo, Central and Francophone Africa (based London and Kinshasa) Post 2 India / South Asia (based London and Delhi) Christian Aid is brave, passionate and outspoken. Are you? We're looking for two experienced communications professionals who not only understand their respective regions, but can also engage on poverty issues with many different audiences at home and overseas. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and communicating human-interest stories from across your region and, in two key countries, helping to train and develop local communications expertise. Working with fundraising and programme professionals in country you'll develop strategic communications plans that help meet the needs of an increasingly diverse range of donors. Throughout, you'll be looking for innovative ways to tell stories that communicate the impact of our work and break through indifference. You will then help others to get those stories out, via our website and through the media. You might also be asked to participate in major fundraising initiatives, speak with journalists, or give public talks. These are new positions requiring significant amounts of time away from home. We are initially offering them as a twelve-month contract with a possibility of both posts being extended following a review.
