Position:
This position will directly support the continued success of IMC's operations in Iraq. The selected candidate will provide emergency and routine security management, training, support and advice to local and expatriate field staff in Iraq at multiple sites throughout the country, focusing on awareness, contingency planning, operational security, and personal security management. Liaison with local authorities and other stakeholders is required. Responsibilities: The Security Manager's (SM) primary responsibility is to work with all program staff and advise the Country Team on all matters related to staff and program security, ensuring IMC security policies are followed and local protocols are formalized and enforced for each site. The SM will be responsible for protecting sensitive and proprietary information, assets and program operations in the field, as well as briefing headquarters on all security activities, risk assessments, emergency situations, evacuation plans, security training and security audits. Excellent communication skills are essential for regular communication with IMC headquarters and government agencies. This position requires at least 7 years of expertise in international security operations in high-risk areas in developing countries, security management experience and technical competencies in safety measures. NGO security experience is required as well as international and local travel. 1. Oversee security integration and implementation across the spectrum of IMC operations in Iraq 2. Frequent domestic travel by road and air in support of ongoing and new operations 3. Collaboration with country management team regarding ongoing program activities and security integration and planning 4. Review and manage daily movement schedules 5. Review security contracts and manage contractor relationships 6. Manage security training program for all staff 7. Design and implement new site security plans, update SOPs, guidelines, contingency plans and ensure risk mitigation strategy is in place at all levels of operations 8. Be a key member of the Field Incident Team (FIT) 9. Produce assessments and recommendations and oversee the implementation of approved findings 10. Oversee guard force management 11. Other Duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. Previous experience as a field based security professional in Iraq is desired 2. 7 + years of expertise in international security operations in high-risk areas is required 3. Ability to conduct technical field security assessments and present analytical findings 4. Ability to motivate and mentor security and non security staff in a cross cultural environment 5. Emergency Management skills and the ability to manage multiple crisis is required 6. Excellent interpersonal and troubleshooting skills 7. Ability to adapt to different cultures, mentalities and circumstances 8. Trauma or advanced first aid training is required 9. HEAT training or equivalent is required 10. Should possess and be able to teach skills related to life in remote and hostile environments such as the use of HF/VHF radios, Satellite based communications, advanced first aid and trauma care, navigation and other related survival skills. 11. Familiarity with protective equipment and ballistics is required Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical and non-technical English language documents and manuals. Ability to write reports, and manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government, and other related regional payers. Spoken Arabic is a plus Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the candidate will work in precarious, hostile and remote areas. The candidate will be employed in areas of civil strife, which often result in an unstable security environment. Regularly work and travel in the outdoors and in extreme weather conditions.
